St Mary’s CBS Enniscorthy offers a comprehensive Career Guidance and Counselling service to all students.
Guidance refers to the range of learning experiences provided in a developmental sequence, designed to assist students in making choices about their lives. These choices may be divided into three distinct but interlinked areas:
- Personal and social.
- Educational.
- Career.
The aims of the Guidance programme are as follows:
- Provide a for the educational, vocational and personal development of all students.
- The Guidance service aims to be inclusive providing for students with varying needs in both Junior and Senior Cycle, through implementing the whole school Wellbeing framework.
- To enhance the value of each student and what they contribute to the life of the school as they journey through adolescence.
- To promote among students the importance of accessing the appropriate support as part of a lifelong learning process.
- To enable students to take responsibility for their learning and decision making in terms of further education or career choices.
- To identify and support venerable students.
- Develop student’s self-awareness of their talents, interests and abilities.
- Foster an environment where students can identify, explore and create opportunities.
- Encourage students to develop responsibility, independence and ambition for themselves.
- To support students as they make informed choices about their lives and follow through on these choices.

Senior Cycle
St Marys CBS Enniscorthy offers a broad range of Leaving Certificate subjects. All students take the core examination subjects of Irish, English and Mathematics along with Physical Education, Religious Education and Guidance for the duration of the programme.
We currently offer the following optional subjects:

Subject choice is an important process for each student. Students should seek advice and choose wisely. All students should keep the following points of information in mind;
- It is essential to check entry requirements for particular courses, colleges, and careers before submitting a subject choice form.
- Other than Higher Level Maths which offers 25 bonus points, all subjects count equally for points.
- Points for third –level courses are calculated on your best six subjects.
- All subjects are suitable for all careers.
- Choose subjects that you are good at and enjoy.
- Never choose a subject because your friends are doing that subject, be true to your own interests and strength areas.
- Always seek further advice if you are unsure.

Students also take the following non-examination subjects which form a vital part of the curriculum in St Mary’s CBS Enniscorthy. These subjects are studied up to Third Year:

First-year students also get the opportunity to experience the full range of subjects on offer during our taster session which runs from September to December. This means that no choices have to be made before enrolment which enables students to make informed decisions with regard to their options for Junior Certificate.
